March 9th, Friday – A Pleasant Surprise

Surprises, when good, are always pleasant.  Today we had one of those.  Unfortunately, it was not the return of warm temperatures.  It did not, thankfully, go down as low as they thought it would last night but it was still on the cool side.  That, however,  is why they make coffee pots!  A steaming cup of coffee on mornings like this is really nice.  Regarding coffee we have this down to a science.  Barbara sets up the pot the night before.  In the morning, I get to push the button to start it brewing.  Perfect division of labor!  Then I get to spoil my sweetheart by bringing her cup of coffee to her while she is still in bed.

So what did we do today?  Where did we go?  Absolutely nothing and nowhere.  We had to wait for the tech to come out to finish the hydraulic hoses, that is find the leaking hose (hopefully only one) and replace it.  Remember this is how it all started.

Then came the pleasant and unexpected surprise – it wasn’t the 30 foot hose that was leaking, it was only the fitting on the end.  Yipee!  What this meant simply put was that the bill came to less than 50% of what was expected.  No complaints here.  So everything is put back together, I might add even better than originally.  All the hoses are wrapped in a protective shield to keep them from chaffing.  Also, originally some were in contact with the hot water hose going to the water heater, that is also no longer an issue as those hoses have been moved and shielded as well.  So all’s well that end’s well.

The remainder of the day was spent doing what neither of us wanted to do but Barbara accepted the challenge and began to work on that which had to be done.  Namely,

taxes-due

Come right down to it, if it wasn’t for her they would never get done because I have neither the heart nor the head for such things.  While she was doing that I began, again, to try to locate campgrounds, routes, etc. for the remainder of 2018.  I also did some more research on places to stay in Florida in 2019.  Campgrounds in Florida will, of course, change drastically if we accept the position as workcampers at Dade State Park.

Supper time was a delightful meal of roast chicken made in the convection oven.  Barbara really does have that gizmo down pat.  She can whip up almost anything and everything using it.  Which makes the lack of a traditional oven a non issue.

So, we come to the end for today, end of the blog, end of the day as night envelops us with its darkness.  It was truly a great day again.  The hit on the wallet was less than expected.  The issues that could have hit us hard on the road have been taken care of.  Yes, there will be we expect more issues along the but that’s life in a motor home.  We’ll just have to with God’s help meet and overcome the challenges as they come.  We hope you had a good day as well, maybe even with a few pleasant surprises thrown in.   Now let me share with you a quote that my sister shared with me this morning:

It’s not where you go in life, it’s who you have beside you that matters

As always,  if you are coming to the end of your day with concerns and worries let me suggest that you turn them over to God.  After all, He is going to be up all night so why not let him handle them for you.

Time now for our evening prayers and some shut-eye.  Till tomorrow.  Thanks again for sharing our day with us.
