Some Lessons Learned Since We’ve Been On The Road. Let me begin, though, with this morning. Finally, warm, yes, warm and sunny. Made getting out of bed so much easier. Not even a need to run the heat pump. Yipee! Of course I don’t expect this every morning, especially as we move further north, but one can hope spring will come soon to all parts of the country.
Well, it is Sunday and, usually, Barbara and I find a local church to go and visit. Well, we didn’t find any so we stayed home and had our own devotions. Next Sunday we know we will be going to church because we will be in Maryland.
We ambled out to the kitchen for a quick breakfast. We had a few cups of coffee to get the blood circulating. Then I sat down and read a book. I picked up in general and vacuumed the rugs. I treated the dashboard with 303 to keep it from fading. We also, finally we believe, have gotten Quickbooks all up to date and everything in proper order. We’ll know when we go to reconcile again next week. Keep your fingers crossed.
Unfortunately, both Barbara and Marti are a bit under the weather. Barbara apparently has something going on in her sinuses. Nothing to worry about, it might be allergies. Marti has developed a severe allergic reaction to either his food, or what else we can’t imagine. We can see that he is really, really uncomfortable. This afternoon we took a trip to the Dollar General Market to get him some new completely grain free food which we fed him this evening. Right now, for the first time in a long time, he is resting comfortably. We hope with this change in food this will continue.
Come the afternoon I sat down and asked myself, so what have you learned so far as a full-time RV’er?
- I’ve learned from a noted editor of an online RV newsletter that we don’t live in an RV, we live in an LV. Difference? A RV is a recreational vehicle that most people use to go on vacation, they use it for a short period of time and then return home. An LV or living vehicle is what we full timer’s call home and live in 365 days a year. Now how about that!
- that it is possible for two people to live together in 400 square feet, with a good deal of love, patience, cooperation, and the willingness to forgive and forget as often as necessary
- that what makes this so much fun is being together, together going places we’ve never been before, and together seeing things that we may never see again
- that regular monthly maintenance of your rig is a must. You have to keep after everything from front to back, from top to bottom. You can’t wait to go home to fix it, you are home wherever you are parked so do it now
- that even with monthly maintenance things are going to bust, break, go hay wire and just down right fail at the wrong time. You’re also from time to time going to find funny pieces of plastic and what not on the floor and wonder, What is this? Trust me in time you will discover what broke and left behind that little piece of plastic!
- that you have to take the good with the bad, you have to roll with the punches, when things go south you need to take a deep breath, relax, and either noodle it through or find someone who can help you fix it
- that you can’t control the weather nor can anyone else for that matter. But you do have a choice, too cold, then either bring out some extra blankets or turn around and go south again
- that no matter what is in front of you, you need not fear for always waiting for you around the next corner is the God of our faith. He doesn’t necessarily make life easier for us, but He does make it possible to get through no matter what comes our way if we only trust and obey
Well, enough of my musings for now. Day is done and night has come. No sunset tonight because the sky is cloudy. In fact, the weather calls for the possibility of rain for the next three days. No big deal that is why they make rain gear and umbrellas. Which I’ll definitely need it sounds like when we get ready to roll out of here on Tuesday. We had another great day, another day spent together enjoying one another’s company and just enjoying life in general. We hope you had a great day as well and that you had a chance to spend some time with someone special to you. A closing though now for all of us who may from time to time be facing something beyond our control:

As always, if you are coming to the end of your day with concerns and worries let me suggest that you turn them over to God. After all, He is going to be up all night so why not let him handle them for you.
Time now for our evening prayers and some shut-eye. Till tomorrow. Thanks again for sharing our day with us.
These are the voyages of Graybeard and it’s occupants, four paws and two humans. Our continuing mission: to explore as many new states as possible, to seek out new acquaintances and make new friends, to boldly go where we have not been before
Lessons learned, but ours is still an RV. I’ll say a special prayer for Barbara and Marti and hope they feel better soon. Enjoy your day tomorrow and this is April, April showers.
