April 25th, Wednesday – Amazing, So Easy

Amazing, so easy!  Yes, it was and I’ll explain in a minute.  We woke to rain again this morning but thankfully the temperatures were in the low 60’s.   The weather forecast was for continued rain until at least the afternoon.  So we burrowed down into the covers and listened to the patter on the roof.  No need to get up to early since we weren’t moving until tomorrow.  My bladder finally got the best of me and I had to get up.  Yup, getting old (or older I guess).

Out to the kitchen for a breakfast of chocolate chip pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee.  Ah, every bite was so delicious.  Time now to get moving.  Barbara was going to spend the day with her sister and I had a few chores to do.

Showers for both of us, oh, how great that hot water felt.  Why I was feeling so good I even decided to shave – and it’s only been three days since I shaved last.  I must be turning over a new leaf.

Time now for Barbara to visit her sister.  If only she could find out where she was staying.  A bit later she now had the address and off she went.  Her sister Carol was

Caol

at this facility in Charlottesville.  The address now in the GPS and she was gone.  Well, we haven’t updated the maps in the old GPS in I don’t know how long so it led her on a merry chase so to speak.  Over hill, over dale, every back road in the area yet in time, more time than it would normally take, she arrived.   Of course, she had to make one stop on the way since her sister wanted a special sandwich from Jersey Mikes.

The two spend a delightful afternoon together and her sister, as one would expect, is anxious to get home.  But she has a few more weeks in rehab before that will become a reality.  But thanks for all who are thinking of her she is doing well and going in the right direction.

Amazing so easy.  This refers of course to the repair to the driver’s side mirror on Graybeard.  As we were on our way here, Barb glanced over to me and said does your

mirror

mirror always flop back and forth like that.  So it was, back and forth, side to side.  What in the world was going on?  Quick stop, set screw was tight.  Moreover, since I was convinced it wasn’t going to come out while driving it was back on the road.  Once at our campground I sent a quick email to tech support at the company who makes the mirror.  Next day I had a reply and a suggestion as to what to do.  Following their advice it was as easy to fix as could be.  Whew!  Another item to put on the monthly check list.

With that out-of-the-way, and with Barbara still not home, only one thing I could do, take a nap.  It felt so good to just stretch out, pull the sheets up to my chin and nod off for a bit.

In a bit, Barbara was back home safe and sound.  Supper finished, we decided to play a few games of Yahtzee.  Next time to watch our two favorite TV shows Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy which we don’t always get.  Finally the blog.  Now back to Yahtzee.  And, of course, we’ll start to pack again since we’re moving north tomorrow to visit Adam and Amanda, and friends at a church where I once worked.

That then was our day.  A little bit of this, and a little bit of that.  For awhile the sun was out but then it started raining again.  Hopefully, tomorrow will be a dryer day as we put things outside in order in preparation for getting out on the road.  It was a another great day, Barbara got to visit her sister, and I got my mirror fixed.  Night is here and it is as dark as dark can be.  We hope you had a great day as well and that you enjoyed it as much as we enjoyed ours.  For all of us here is a closing thought, one I’m sure most RVers can identify with:

difficult roads

As always,  if you are coming to the end of your day with concerns and worries let me suggest that you turn them over to God.  After all, He is going to be up all night so why not let him handle them for you.

Time now for our evening prayers and some shut-eye.  Till tomorrow.  Thanks again for sharing our day with us.
