August 29th, Wednesday – Shopping Oh Yes; Hot, Hot, Hot; Blinds are Here, Yea!

Ah, another fantastic day to wake to.  It finally cooled off around midnight.  And stayed that way, oh, until at least 10 am this morning!  We are smack, dab in the middle of a heat wave and there is no relief in sight for at least another week.  Think I’m kidding?

That was 3:40 pm and it kept going up from there.  It finally topped out around 95 degrees.  Ok, I know I said I never wanted to see snow again nor temperatures in the 30’s or 40’s but this is crazy.  Oh well, hopefully some of this will carry over into January.

Today we headed out to Walmart and Aldi.  We hadn’t done a full on shopping trip since the beginning of July. Yes, the cupboards and the freezer were absolutely empty.  A couple of hours later we were back home and here is the result of the trip.  And this is only part of it!

The large cardboard boxes in the back?  Our new blinds.  Now we get to finish the inside and then move on to the outside and window awnings.  So, with drill, screwdriver, and some other tools, I got to work on the one window where the blind had broken and was no longer there.  We had managed to block off the window but it looked awful.  Time to correct that now.  I figured I’d do one window tonight and the rest tomorrow.  Here is the old look with the stock valence and day/night shade in place.  Been there a long time.

Now for the new, cleaner, sleeker look.  I still have to install the hold down brackets and finish installing and centering the top valence but take a look and see what you think.

We’re slowly moving away from the cookie cutter look and making Graybeard our own.  By the time we leave here we’ll have the interior and exterior pretty much the way we really want it.  Our home will be our own and not a replica of every other RV on the road.  Now that is neat.

So, that was our day.  A hot one, but one in which we accomplished a lot.  Shopping is done.  We got a start on installing the blinds.  A great day in so many ways.  And once again we did it together, traveling along, hand in hand, singing our song.
