Visiting One Of My Favorites For Lunch

Hunkering Down and Getting Ready

Today we decided to visit an old favorite of ours for lunch.

This is The Fish River Grill which we discovered when we were in this area in May, 2019

As soon as you enter you get the vibe that this is not your standard restaurant.

Now a place with a display of turtles is number one in my book!

This place is chock full of all kinds of neat exhibits.

But the real reason you come here is for the seafood.  I started out with a crab and shrimp seafood gumbo.  It was so good I ordered a container to come home with me.

The main course was fish and chips.  It was oh so delicious.  I once again became a member of the clean plate club.  Now don’t despair, Ms. Barbara was not left out.  Far from being a sea food lover she ordered a Reuben Sandwich.  The only negative for her was the thick bread it was on.   Other than that she stated it too was delicious.

OK, it is now official we are under a tropical storm watch.  From Sunday through Wednesday they are forecasting winds between 25 to 45 mph and lots of rain.  This could, of course, change again as the storm gets closer.

With this in mind we decided now was the time to replenish and stock up the underside storage lockers.  We also brought home enough meat to fill the freezer.

We just couldn’t pass up on this mini watermelon.  The perfect comfort food for a rainy day.

When we got home I went out and put everything away that could possibly get blown away.  In case we have to make a run for it, I also made sure the tires were at the proper pressure, the covers were put away, the awnings are in and tightly stowed.  We ready for whatever might come our way.  All we can do now is sit tight and monitor the weather.

That was our day on The Road of Retirement.  I guess someone up there must have heard us say we were getting bored because some excitement it seems is definitely on our way.  We’re ready, though, as ready as we can be.  Time now to play some Mexican Train and watch a bunch of movies.  It will be what it will be and we’ll just go with the flow – in this case the flow of water!

Thanks for checking in with us today.  We always appreciate your company and your comments. We’ll keep you posted as things develop over the coming days.

These are the voyages of  Elvira and her two intrepid travelers.  Our continuing mission: to explore as many new states as possible, to seek out new acquaintances and make new friends, to boldly go where we have never been before.

See you on down the road!
