Places We Have Called Home In 2020

What If
As I’ve been riding my bike around the park delighting in the world around me I find myself asking the question What If?
We are living in turbulent and unsettled times right now. The winter flu season is right around the corner. COVID-19 cases are increasing rapidly once again and experts are telling us to prepare for the worse in the coming months. There is also the upcoming election. No matter which way it goes we all know that we are in for a rough ride. You can add to that a whole new mess of concerns regarding the economy, the enviroment, wildfires and massive storms.
During my daily bike rides I keep thinking about all of this and wondering How will it all play out. How will we manage the winter? When will things get back to normal whatever that may be?
Then the other day I had a radical and different switch in thinking. What if real peace, joy and happiness is to be found in accepting the present situation?
When things are going well and all is right with the world it is an effortless thing to do. When we’re able to move about as we wish; when we’re able whenever we want to visit with family and friends; when we are able to go out on a Friday night to our favorite restaurant – when life is like this it is easy to find inner peace and joy and happiness.
But when the bottom drops out of our life, when our world is turned upside down – which is in essence the story of 2020, what then?
I’m convinced the answer lies within.
Like it or not the world we’re living in now is the real world. This is our life now.
So What If
We concentrate our rebuilding from within, we accept the situation as it is, letting go of what was before so that we can find new norms and a new way forward. This does not mean that we give up on our hopes and dreams for the future, but that we simply let go of our nostalgia for the past so that we can move forward with hope.
This is life now so let’s make the most of it.

These are the voyages of Elvira and her two intrepid travelers. Our continuing mission: to explore as many new states as possible, to seek out new acquaintances and make new friends, to boldly go where we have never been before.
See you on down the road!
These are great thoughts. To rebuild from within. To find new norms. To find a new way forward. It will be hard, but it will be harder to hold onto the past. A new way forward is the only route to a possible better way. Lots to think about!! Happy bike riding!

“It is what it is” is one of my favorite sayings. It’s up to us to make the best of each day that we’re given. You make a good point that holding on to the past only makes it harder. We can, and will adapt somehow. Stay safe.

The future is uncertain and all we can do is pray for better days or for strength to cope with whatever is dealt us. There are people that are constantly offended and filled with hate. That hate will destroy our country. Pray for better days. Stay safe and we must enjoy each day that is giving to us.
