Temperature 89 Degrees

Mission Accomplished

We’re Out Of There

We came to Fort Myers for one and only one reason. That being to remove the Diamond Shield from the front of Elvira.

They started Monday evening by tapping lights off and getting tools in place.

Then they returned on Tuesday and went at it full force. It took three of them a good six hours to finish.

Mission accomplished. I have a few minor dings that I have to touch up but I am completely satisfied with the final result.

Come Wednesday morning and we were more than ready to leave UpRiver behind to never return again.

The trip north to Paradise Oaks was a mixed bag. There was more traffic than I’ve driven in for a long time. There were a couple of spots that were really congested and traffic slowed down to a crawl. But then it would open back up and away we would go. All in all the trip took just the better part of three hours.

We’re in a pull through for tonight since we’ll be leaving first thing tomorrow on our northward journey. We know one thing for sure already, it’s going to be winter PJ’s and blankets and Tiny Tim is going to have to come back out of hiding. We’re going up where the temperature at night is supposed to be the 30’s and 40’s. I believe tonight will be the last time we will use the A/C for a good long time to come.

That was our day on The Road of Retirement. We’re really looking forward to the days, weeks, and months to come. So many new places to visit. Lots of new attractions to discover. New people to meet and get to know. The excitement is building.

Yes, we are excited but also somewhat sad. We met and came to know so many absolutely wonderful people during our six months in Paradise Oaks. We spent hours in conversation. We got to know one another and our families. We talked shop. We helped one another whenever a need arose. We will miss them and we have all promised to try and get together sometime next winter here in Florida.

But it’s time to go, so go we shall. Just the two of us, holding hands, traveling along, singing our song. On The Road Again . . .

Thanks for taking the time to read our blog.  We always appreciate your company, your comments, and your suggestions. Keep safe, keep healthy, live to the fullest the days that God gives you.

These are the voyages of  Elvira and her two intrepid travelers.  Our continuing mission: to explore as many new states as possible, to seek out new acquaintances and make new friends, to boldly go where we have never been before.

See you on down the road!

  1. Glad you are excited and glad your diamond plate came out sparkling! And I am glad to know to never stay at UpRiver – ever. I am looking forward to reading about your adventures. Safe travels!

  2. The RV looks great. Glad your happy with it. We don’t travel to the Gulf side often because of the traffic.
