Morning Worsip

They’re Coming

IMG_2651

A totally different kind of sky this morning.  There were portents of rain in the clouds and by late afternoon the drops began to fall.  But not for long.  The rain lasted all of about thirty minutes and that was that.

IMG_2627

Our Sunday morning began with worship at our home church in Colts Neck, New Jersey.

IMG_2630

Special music was offered by one of the bell choirs.

IMG_2643

Today was a special service of remembrance in which we paused to remember all those during the past twelve months who have gone home to be with their Lord.

IMG_2644

I still miss my mom so much.  Sometimes I still find myself thinking I need to call her like I used to do every morning.  She was our biggest fan when it came to the life we are now living.  Time and again when we used to talk she would ask Are you two enjoying what you are doing?  I would reply Sure are. And she would finish by saying Then you two just keep on going and enjoy every minute of your travels.

IMG_2632

We also celebrated communion this morning.

IMG_2639

IMG_2640

Our closing song.

Following worship I completed my one project for the day.

IMG_2645

I finished cleaning our captin’s chairs.

After which I spent some time just sitting outside and watched. . .

IMG_2648

IMG_2650

more new snowbirds arrive.

While I was sitting outside Ms Barbara was inside making a delicious pot roast supper.  Oh my with noodles, gravy and vegtables it was a meal fit for a king.  I definitely became a member of the clean plate club this afternoon.

After supper I spent the rest of the afternoon watching football games.  Ms Barbara watched the Hall Mark Channel.

That’s it today on The Road of Retirement.  We’re just taking each day as it comes and making the most of them.

We hope you enjoyed your time with us today.  We always appreciate your company as well as your comments and suggestions. Keep safe, keep healthy, enjoy the days that God gives you.

These are the voyages of  Elvira and her two intrepid travelers.  Our continuing mission: to explore as many new states as possible, to seek out new acquaintances and make new friends, to boldly go where we have never been before.

See you on down the road!

Puttering Around

My oh my when we awoke this morning it was a wee bit chilly.  Like 64 outside and 68 inside.  OK, I’m sure there are other parts of the country where this would be considered a heat wave but for us it is a reminder that winter is not far away.

IMG_2616

I never grow tired of a sky like this.  A reminder that another beautiful day lies ahead of us.  What a beautiful world God has created for us to enjoy.

IMG_2617

One more new neighbor in the neighborhood.  Slowly, ever so slowly they are beginning to arrive.  It will be interesing to see if the park really fills up this winter.  Rumor is it will but only time – and the month of November – will tell.

Today was a day for just putting around.

IMG_2619

The tire covers went back on.

IMG_2620

IMG_2624

The privacy screens were snapped back in place.

IMG_2618

Mirror covers slipped on.

IMG_2621

The tow bar cover was also slipped on.

IMG_2622

fussed with engine access cover.  Both silver latches and the cover mechanism itself needed to be lubed.

IMG_2625

Inside I started cleaning our leather seats.  A friend of ours tipped us off to the cleaning power of Purple Power Creme Hand Cleaner.  Just a little dab, let sit, wipe off, then buff with a soft cloth and the dirt just disappears and the seats look like new.

Ms Barbara was also doing her own kind of puttering.  She did some paperwork. She worked on the laundry.  For lunch she made a delicious concoction of of kielbasa and potatoes and peppers.  It was all so delicious and I encouraged her to definitely keep the recipe.

So went the day on The Road of Retirement.  You just have to love days like this.  There was nothing that had to be done.  There were no doctor appointments. I met a few more of our neighbors.   It was just a lazy, laid back, puttering kind of day.  Our kind of day.

We hope you enjoyed your time with us today.  We always appreciate your company as well as your comments and suggestions. Keep safe, keep healthy, enjoy the days that God gives you.

Yearly Maintenance

Home Again

True to their word a knock was heard on our door at 7:45 am this morning.  Yup, another early morning.  But that’s it for now.  Tomorrow we turn off the phones, turn the clocks face down, and we sleep as late as we want.

IMG_2606

Elvira in the garage for her yearly maintenace.  I had all the normal done – oil and filter change, change all the fuel filters,  and lube the chassis.  They then did a generator service.  I also made sure the radiator was cleaned on both sides; and, I had them change the air dryer filter.  Come to find out the later probably had not been done since the rig was new.  They also did a complete inspection of all belts, hoses, and everything underneath and gave everything a clean bill of health.

Now, of course per normal there was one surprise along the way.  Our refrigerator stopped working on the invertor.  What!  I determined that the invertor was working properly.  I next determined that the refrigerator was also working by plugging it into an external 110 volt outlet in the shop.  So what was going on.  I reset the invertor.  Plugged the refrigerator back in to its dedicated outlet.  Presto!  All is fine now.  What happened?  In one word -HARVEY our friendly ghost.  That’s the only explanation I have.

Service done time to head back to Paradise.

IMG_2611

Rolling into the park this is the beautiful blue sky that greeted us.  And did you see that temperature and the relative humidity?  It is an absolutely gorgeous day all the way around.

IMG_2217

We are back home.

IMG_2609

This time as I backed in I put 2×10 boards under each tire.  I did some research and discovered that one of the worse surfaces to park on long term is grass.  There is a chance of the tires sinking in and, in addition, the chance of the moisture from the grass wicking up into the tires.  Putting pressure treated boards under each tire eliminates the problem all together.

I did make one mistake.  When I leveled Elvira this time I got her dead level.  Not good.  I usually leave either the front or back slightly down so that water will easily run off the slide toppers.  Well, we’re going out again in November and when we come back I’ll make sure I get it right at that time.

IMG_2610

We have our first new neighbor down the end of our block.  Supposedly, there will be 100 new arrivals during the month of November.

To that end they are really working on making the park look even better – if that is possible.  All the buildings are being pressure washed.  Trees are being trimmed.  The gardens are being spruced up.  They’ve even brought in extra dumpsters.  Yup, it appears they are getting ready for a bunch of new people.

That was the sum total of our day on The Road of Retirment.  We accomplished all that we set out to do.  A really big shout out to the tech’s at Cummins – they are first class professionals.  Marcus, our tech kept me informed from start to finish.  Then there was the little things, like not entering our rig without first putting protective boots on his shoes and making sure the drivers seat was covered with plastic before sitting on it.  That’s attention to detail that I really like.  As for the bill, once again a really pleasant surprise.  No were near what I expected it to be.  Life is good.  God is good all the time.

We hope you enjoyed your time with us today.  We always appreciate your company as well as your comments and suggestions. Keep safe, keep healthy, enjoy the days that God gives you.

Second Time Is The Charm

Lights Fixed – Oh What A Bill!

Time For Annual Maintenance – Coach Care Cummins Power South

Back to the doctor for Ms Barbara.  But first . . .

20201029_092238

since we had a later appointment we decided to stop again for breakfast at one of our favorite bagel shops.

20201029_092448

They say its all about the water and who am I to disagree.

20201029_092210

20201029_092203

All items are are made in house.  So you know they are fresh.

20201029_092501

They make a delicious Everythig Bagel.  It is loaded and oh so tasty.

20201029_092505

My Lady enjoying her Black Russian Bagel.

Breakfast over it was on to the doctor.  This time the doctor was in and all went well.  Well, in the sense that the test was performed and now we wait for the results.

Back home we went.

Time now to finish putting things away so we could roll out in the early afternoon. We were leaving everything behind so there was not much packing up to do. Around two in the afternoon we were ready.  So it was slides in and jacks up.  Away we went.

IMG_2598

This was our first stop.  This is the shop that installed the hitch on Little Graybeard for my bike rack.  When I was there the last time I struck up a conversation with them and explained what was happening with the lights on the car when I was towing it.  They simply said, When you’re ready bring it in and we’ll get it straightened out.

IMG_2597.JPG

Today was the day to bring it in.  Within minutes John discovered that this connector was wired wrong as well . . .

IMG_2596

as the connector on the other end.  In no more than fifteen minutes both were replaced, lights were checked and we were ready to go.  Now, as to the bill they presented me with . . . a whopping forty dollars!  Money well spent.

On to our next stop.

IMG_2604

IMG_2603.JPG

This is Cummins Power South.  Tomorrow morning they’ll do the annual maintenance on Elvira.

IMG_2602.JPG

Tonight they extended us an invitation to be their guest at one of the RV sites in the back.

IMG_2601

IMG_2599

This is our home for tonight.  Though there are a number of other rigs here, some plugged in, we are the only ones in residence.

Only one question remained, what to do for supper?

20201029_171825

This was the closest so we figured we would give it a try.

20201029_171914

20201029_171922

The restaurant was filled with all kinds of neat signs.  Unfortunately, these two were the only ones I was able to upload to this blog.

Ms Barbara

Ms Barbara had a very tasty salad.

Bill Supper

I had chicken wings plus.  Unfortunately, they were nothing to write home about.

That was the total of our day on The Road of Retirement.  It was a full day for both of us.  Full, but not rushed or hurried.  Our kind of day.  We should be out of here and back at Paradise by around noon tomorrow.  Tll then, time for some shut eye since we’ll have another early morning tomorrow.

Thanks for stopping by today.  We always appreciate your company as well as your comments and suggestions. Keep safe, keep healthy, enjoy the days that God gives you.
