Doctor’s Visit – NOT!

Today’s Projects

Amenities

Ms Barbara had one doctor visit scheduled for today.  It was an 8 am appointment in Lady Lake which is a 45 plus minute ride from our house.  Therefore, 6 am we were up and ready to go.  Yea, that early.  Ugh.

We made it to the doctor’s office with four minutes to spare.  Guess what we found out?  The doctor changed her schedule and is no longer in on Wednesdays.  What!  We even confirmed the appointment yesterday.   Yet no one thought to tell us.  I believe they need a new office manager.

So sorry they said can you come back tomorrow at 10 am?  Well, I guess we have to since this is part of what is needed for cardiac clearance for Ms. Barbara’s knee surgery.  So, we’ll try again tomorrow.  Let’s hope they get it right this time.

The Original Brooklyn Water Bagel Co., 514 US-441, Lady Lake, FL 32159, USA

However, the morning was not a total loss.  We were only 10 minutes from Brooklyn Water Bagels.  This is one of our favorite places whenever we are in this area.  Ah, an Everything Bagel and an ice coffee and I was in a much better mood.  The same for Ms. Barbara after her bagel and coffee.

Once back home I wandered over to the park within the park.  Sometimes I just love to wander over and sit on the bench for a bit and read my book.  It is a really nice place to just sit and read or watch the clouds go by or whatever.

This was today’s project and it didn’t go well.  The windshield washer on the passenger side stopped working a short time ago.  Now I know why.  The fitting that this hose is supposed to attach to has broken off.  I wonder if I can find another windshield wiper mount; and, I wonder if I can afford it.  Everything Newmar comes with quite a price tag.  Time to investigate.

Remember the wood shelf I want to build for the one locker?  I discovered that there is a wood shop here in Paradise.  I’m going to ask as soon as I can at the office what is required for one to use the shop.  Hopefully the answer will be feel free to use the shop and it’s tools whenever you want.  I’ll let you know in the future after I find out.

That was our day on The Road of Retirement.  Time now to start packing things away since we’ll be rolling tomorrow afternoon.  We’ll be away for just one night, Thursday.  We’ll be back on site as of Friday afternoon.  In addition, the early morning is starting to catch up with me so I’m headed for bed as early as possible tonight.  Sleep well one and all.

Thanks for stopping by today.  We always appreciate your company as well as your comments and suggestions. Keep safe, keep healthy, enjoy the days that God gives you.

Remember how I said clouds like this are normal?  Usually they blow over rather quickly.  No storm, no rain.

IMG_2576

Not this time!  We got a soaker.  But it came and went within thirty minutes.  At least it dropped the humidity a whole bunch.

IMG_2583

And left us with this beautiful rainbow.

Time for a few more amenities here at the park.

IMG_2591

There’s the horseshoe pit

The Paddleboard court.

IMG_2590.JPG

There are also golf carts to rent.  With all the golf carts around here it often feels like one is in the Villages where golf carts probably out-number cars.

Projects for the day.

IMG_2565

The first one was an easy one.  I needed to clean the screens on the two vent fans.

The next one is a bit more involved.  One of the outside lockers used to hold a TV which didn’t work.  So I deep-sixed it and now in its place I want to install. . .

something like this in the now empty space.

First step, pulling out all the old stuff that was currently in the locker so I could see what I had to work with.  Now that that is done I’ll sit down and put together some drawings of what I want to build so I know what I have to purchase.  I believe I’m going to make it out of pine.  Of course, I’m open to any and all suggestions at this point in time.

What else did we do today?  Ms Barbara went back to the eye doctor.  This time they injected dye into her eyes so they could take a closer look.  At this point in time she is holding her own and no further action is needed.  But the dye they used left her feeling nauseous and unable to see for the better part of the day.

IMG_2569

I also went over to the lending library and obtained a new book.

Finally, what do you get when you take . . .

IMG_2586

this and hitch it to . . .

this.  What you get is . . .

IMG_2585

one sweet looking ride.  Oh, it’s for sale if anyone is interested.

So that was our day on The Road of Retirement.  It was a great day from beginning to end.  I started a new project.  I grabbed a new book.  Ms Barbara has finished with one more doctor.  On now, like tomorrow, to yet another one. Unfortunately, no word yet as to when her knee surgery will be rescheduled.  Then come Thursday we’ll roll out of here for a couple of days for scheduled maintenance at Cummins South of Ocala.  We’re keeping busy in many different ways.

Thanks for stopping by today.  We always appreciate your company as well as your comments and suggestions. Keep safe, keep healthy, enjoy the days that God gives you.

Looking at these clouds one might think that there is a storm on the way.  Nah, this is typical for Florida.  Wait thirty minutes and the sky will be clear.  Yet, every once and awhile it will fool you.  But not today.  Not a drop of rain.

Just one project today.  In anticipation of rolling out on Thursday I decided to treat the tires with 303.  I also checked and made sure each tire was at the proper pressure.

While I was outside puttering around Ms Barbara was inside on the phone.  She was busy making doctor’s appointments.  She had to obtain her records from Doctor A and have them sent to Doctor B.  She confirmed other appointments already made.  She had paperwork and bills to take care of.  It sounds easy and it is, but it is also very time consuming.  It took her the better part of the morning to get everything in order.

Time now for bike ride.  Come check out some of the amenties offered here.

Welcome Sign

OK, not really an amenity but I always get a warm, fuzzy feeling whenever I enter the park and see this sign.  In our three years of travel and having stayed at as many parks as I can think of this is the first such sign I’ve ever encountered.  A really nice touch.

There’s that beautiful smile.  She had a Pork Quesadilla and I had a Steak Burrito.  Both were oh so delicious!

Tummies full and with the sun setting in the west we slowly made our way back home.

That was our day on The Road of Retirement.  We kept busy from sun up to sun down.  We accomplished a little bit of this and a little bit of that.  It was our kind of day.  Life is good.  God is Good All The Time.

Morning Worship

When Things Go Wrong

Good Morning World!  What a beautiful day we awoke to.

IMG_2537

Beautiful blue skies and wonderful white clouds.  It had all the makings of another great day.  It doesn’t take a lot to get used to days like this.

IMG_2525

Our Sunday began as it does every Sunday morning, with worship at our home church in Colts Neck, New Jersey.

IMG_2531

The Celebration Ringers, just one of several bell choirs at the church, provided us with special music.

IMG_2532

Pastor Scott presented the morning message.  The theme of his message was:  Now is the time to press forward.

He emphasized that now is not the time to lament the past, or to try to recreate it; but, now is the time to press forward and find new ways to present the love of Christ to a world that so desperately needs it.  He emphasized that we must stay positive, stay focused on the future, we must press forward with hope.

It was a great message to begin the week with.

After church it was time to do some simpe chores.  I’ve set a goal for myself to tackle at least one or two chores per day.  That is until I run out of things to do.  At that time I’ll probably get creative!

IMG_2534

IMG_2535

First item on my list was changing our external water filter.  Easy enough and within ten minutes it was done.

IMG_2538

Next item on the list was to get the OTA antenna to work.  It was stuck – thankfully – in the stowed position.  I wanted to be able to raise and lower it and then use it to bring in local channels.

First, up on the roof to lubricate it so I could raise and lower it.  That took all of ten minutes and now it goes up and down.

From here on it all went downhill real fast.  I first tired to get it set up to receive local channels on the front TV.  I remembered – or so I thought – the necessary steps but nothing worked.  OK, I figured before I messed things up I would setp back and think about this abit.

OK, time to try again.  I started pushing several buttons and all of a sudden I heard from the bedroom what did you do I lost all channels on the back tv.  I figured no problem I’ll just reset everything back to what it was.

Well, when things go wrong, they really go wrong when I’m involved.  I reset everythig back to what it was but absolutely no picture on the back TV.  I checked connections, I went back over what I had done, I reset the Walley for the back TV, I tried to reset the back TV.  I worked at this for it must have been a good two hours. Over and over I kept getting the same message which was no connection. I even told that nasty back TV I was going to hold my breath until it started working the way I wanted it to.  Like it really cared.

Finally, totally out of options and just fed up I walked to the AV cabinet and turned the Wally for the back TV off.  Then with a smirk on my face I walked to the bedroom and turned the TV on – not really expecting a thing.  But I figured I had nothing to lose.

It worked!  I don’t know what I did and I don’t really care at this point in time.  All I know is that the back TV is once again working like it should.  Go figure.

That was our day on The Road of Retirement.  A bit frustating for a time but all is well that ends well.  Another day in our extended stay is in the books.  Yup, I’m already counting down until we’re on the road again!

Thanks for checking in with us from time to time.  We always appreciate your company as well as your comments and suggestions. Keep safe, keep healthy, enjoy the days that God gives you.
