They said it would never last, yet, here we are. Our thirty-fifth wedding anniversary. Thirty five years later still traveling together, hand in hand, side by side, always singing our song. I once was told that the key to a successful marriage among many things is to marry your best friend. How true that is. We were friends in the beginning and remain friends still and will always be. There is no one else I want to continue to travel through life with then my sweetheart who has always been at my side. For me she has been my light, my life, my love. Barbara will tell you that I am also her light, her life, her love. We are now looking forward to another thirty-five years if that is the number of years the good Lord gives us to still live. Whatever the years, though, we will always remain at one’s side.
Such an occasion demanded a special celebration. We treated each other to a special meal at a restaurant we passed time and time again on the way home from church.
Among the many items on the menu the one we were really interested in was a German dish. That dish was authentic Wiener Schnitzel with Red Cabbage and Spätzle. As I often
will say about my breakfast, it was yummy and tummy filling. We would go back again.
That was our day on The Road of Retirement. We traveled it together, side by side, hand in hand, singing our song. Thanks once again for joining us. If you haven’t already today find your significant other and give them a big hug and tell them how much you love them.
Time now for the Garth Brooks concert in surround sound. Oh this Dish setup may be a big pain at times but tonight it is worth every penny we paid for it. Before I go something for each of us to think upon:
As always, if you are coming to the end of your day with concerns and worries, let me suggest that you turn them over to God. After all, He is going to be up all night so why not let him handle them for you.
Time now for our evening prayers and eventually some shut-eye. Till tomorrow.
These are the voyages of Graybeard and it’s occupants, four paws and two humans. Our continuing mission: to explore as many new states as possible, to seek out new acquaintances and make new friends, to boldly go where we have not been before
See you on down the road
Happy Anniversary to you both. Wishing you many more years to share many more miles. God Bless you both.
