We Say Goodbye to the Gopher tortoise

This being Sunday it was off to worship this morning.  This will be our last time to worship here for probably 2 years.  Pastor Ron did not disappoint with his message.  It was based on Psalm 91 and it was a powerful reminder of God’s love and how if we are nestled in His heart then thought one may kill the body they can never destroy our soul.  I’ll take this one with me and I’ll remember it for a good long time.

Time for breakfast.  Barbara invited me to take her out and she said she would be easy on me, meaning McDonald’s would do.  Around the corner we went for a quick bite and a steak egg and cheese bagel for me and a chocolate chip frappe. Nothing fancy but it quieted the rumble in my tummy.  Barbara had an egg and cheese on an English muffin and it too quieted the rumble in her tummy.  Glad we stopped.

Home we came and we got serious about packing.  I took the outside and Barbara began working on the inside.  I took my time, especially since I couldn’t really remember what went where anymore.  Eventually I got it all figured out.  Tomorrow all that is left to do is bring in the slides, dump the tanks, raise the jacks and put the pads away.  An easy 30 minutes rain or no rain.  Barbara has some last-minute running around to do so we’ll probably be on the road around 11 am.  Since it is only a 2, maybe 3, hour ride to Joy RV Park we’re in no big rush.  Especially since they won’t let you check in before 2 pm.

One more goodbye today.  We found our friend the Gopher Tortoise ambling along the back fence and snapped a few more pictures of him.

Oh, one more thing that we just had to do.  They finally opened an ice cream shop in Bushnell.  We would have been remiss if we had not taken a few minutes to check it out.  So glad we did!  The ice cream was delicious.  Let’s hope it is here when we get back.

Night is here and we still have a few things to pack inside.  We’ll get there.  We’re just out of practice but a few moves this month and we’ll be right back in the groove.  Oh yea!

That was our day on The Road of Retirement.  We’re both anxious and nervous at the same time about tomorrow.  It seems like it has been ages and ages since we were rolling down the road.  It will take a few miles for us to settle in.  This, though, is what we live for which is both the journey as well as the many new things we will discover as the miles go by.  Bring it on!

Thanks for joining us again today.  As always we enjoyed your company.  Time to go, have a good night and we’ll you again tomorrow.

These are the voyages of  Graybeard and it’s occupants, four paws and two humans.  Our continuing mission: to explore as many new states as possible, to seek out new acquaintances and make new friends, to boldly go where we have not been before

See you on down the road
