Home Is Where We Park It: Joy RV Park
Date: April 1, 2019
The Journey Has Begun
The day is finally here. The journey is about to begin. Today is the first day of Tour America 2019. Though we were in no big rush since our journey today would be an easy 2 hour trip, still we had things that had to be done.
Barbara needed to get to the post office to pick up our mail before we left. She also had to stop at Marti’s veterinary to pick up his travel medicine aka a strong tranquilizer. Our shirts and name badges needed to dropped off at the park office.
I on the other hand had to finish packing up on the outside. Wesly our water softener had to be packed away. Gertrude our satellite antenna had to be disconnected and put away. The table she sat on also had to be packed up. Then the tanks had to be dumped and the hose had to be cleaned and put in its proper place. Same with the water filter and water lines. Wesley and Gertrude and her table ended up in the car. Finally it was time for slides in and jacks up. Jack pads were put away and we were ready to roll.
All along the rain had been threatening. It sprinkled a few times but nothing major. The real rain we found out later came after we left. Whew, dodged another bullet. I hate packing up in the rain.
I got the car on the tow bar. We plugged the car in to the light receptacle, checked them one by one and were gratified to see all were working as they should. Hey, it had been over 5 months since we last hooked up. Of course I keep each end capped when they are disconnected.
It was time. We began to roll. First stop would be Joy RV Park in Cocoa, Florida. The trip was an easy one. The roads were in great shape. Traffic was light to moderate. The weather cooperated and we had no rain the whole way.
We’ve waited for this journey to begin for so long. Now, finally the journey has officially begun. Are we excited? You had better believe it! We love the journey as much as we do the destination. It’s time now to boldly go and discover lots of new states, seek out new acquaintances and make new friends. We’re ready.
Two hours later we arrived at Joy RV Park. It was easy to find though you had to go through 2 other RV parks to get to it. Really strange. Then at check in we find it is under new ownership. Will it be as good as others had found it in the past? We’ll let you know.
This of course is a stock photo taken off the web. Look close and you’ll find our spot, #160. Last row to the right, almost directly across from the pool. It’s not a big park. The roads are paved and in good shape. Most sites are occupied by permanent residents. In fact the resident off our drivers side is a gentleman in his 90’s. Once a full timer he gave it up when as he said it got to be to much to set up and tear down only to do it all over again. Oh, that I can go that long.
Here is a picture of Graybeard looking good. Our site is had packed dirt, level, with all utilities right at hand. Still have the awning to put out and a few other things to do. I did manage to get Wesly set up and Gertrude on her table pointed south. Tonight we’ll be able to watch Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and the next installment of The Life of Jesus.
Here are two pictures of our street looking one way then the other. Nice and quiet.
That was our day on The Road of Retirement. It felt good to be behind the wheel again. After just a few minutes I settled into a groove again and was able to relax and enjoy every minute of the ride. We’ll be here for a week and then we’ll move again. Our main reason for stopping here is to visit Kennedy Space Center. I’m sure we’ll also find a few other places to go as well.
Thanks for coming along with us again today. We always enjoy your company and comments. Time to go now. Till tomorrow.
These are the voyages of Graybeard and it’s occupants, four paws and two humans. Our continuing mission: to explore as many new states as possible, to seek out new acquaintances and make new friends, to boldly go where we have not been before
See you on down the road
You sound pleased to be back on the road. Glad you had a good trip and good weather also. You may get to see the SpaceX Falcon Heavy lift off this weekend. What a thrill!!! Enjoy the east coast.
