TOUR AMERICA 2019: BETHEL,OHIO – THE BUCKEYE STATE

Home Is Where We Park It:  East Fork State Park, Bethel, Ohio

July 1, 2019

Temperature 84 degrees

We Got Out But Couldn’t Find Our Way Back!

Not a whole lot going on today.  We’re here just to chill out and get caught up on various odds and ends.  Tomorrow we have some sightseeing to do.  We also had to do some resupplying.  That’s where things got interesting!

Once again temperatures at night are back in the comfortable sleeping range, mid 60’s to 70 degrees.  During the day, though, they quickly climb back up to the 80’s and 90’s.

Today we decided to do some quick shopping.  There is everything we need just a quick 30 minutes away.  Well, we got out to the stores.  Coming home, however, proved rather interesting.  Seems there are two addresses for the park.  One is for the Administrative Office.  The other is for the campground.  Unfortunately, our GPS decided to take us to the Administrative Office.  Getting home from there proved to be really interesting.  Suffice to say a 30 minute trip took us almost an hour!  I’m so glad we were in the car and not the RV.

Once we got home we decided to do some exploring.  Take it from me this park is huge.  The loops go from A to J with about 20 sites in each loop, maybe more.  The strange thing is even though this is a gem of a park it is empty right now.  What will happen in a few days is anyone’s guess.  The park ranger said that there has been so much rain the last couple of months people just stopped coming.

Speaking of water, they just opened up all but one of the boat ramps.  All had been closed due to high water.  We went down to the camp boat ramp and discovered what they were talking about and why its still closed.  That’s the dock out there separated from the parking lot by quite a few feet.  Looking at the debris on the parking lot you could see that the entire parking lot, all 100 feet of it had recently been under water.

Take a close look and you’ll see that the water is still quite high.  A good number of the trees on this small island are still in the water when they should be high and dry.

That was our day on The Road of Retirement.  With us adventure awaits around every corner.  If its not there we can sure invent it!  Time now to get some shut eye before we take off tomorrow for some sightseeing.

Thanks again for joining us.  We’ll catch you tomorrow.

These are the voyages of  Graybeard and it’s occupants, four paws and two humans.  Our continuing mission: to explore as many new states as possible, to seek out new acquaintances and make new friends, to boldly go where we have not been before

See you on down the road!
