New Hope UMC – Week One, Day One
We’re Making Progress Toward Picking Up Our New Rig
Well the day has come. Time to go back to work. Which of course means no sleeping in, no more lazy mornings. Not, at least, for the next three weeks.
This is
where we are and where we will be working.
This morning we went for a walk to get some understanding of what is in front of us.
This is one area that has to be cleaned and landscaped.
Same here.
More of the same. This is just one side of the property. The other three sides are just as bad. The problem, though, is that all of these areas are infested with huge and nasty thorns. We definitely have a challenge before us.
This little tank, well a second like it, has created another project. Seems one of the teachers decided since there were no fish in the second tank the best thing to do
was to pour everything in the tank, including the gravel down the sink.
Guess what no longer drains as it should? We now have to get the gravel out. It’s not in the p trap so we have to go further.
Another project is emptying out the tool shed, sorting out what to keep and what to get rid of, finally organize everything that is being kept.
We also have the roof to fix on the church, ceiling titles to replace in the
worship center.
They’ve asked us to repaint the lines in the parking lot.
Repaint the cross on the front of the property.
They’ve asked us to take this sign down and put a new one up.
That’s just a sample of the projects for the next three weeks. I doubt we’ll become bored nor will we run out of things to do. Once again, however, it is a great feeling knowing that we’re doing something significant to help others move forward.
On the home front, Barbara is going crazy trying to get everything in order to pick up our new rig next week. We had a storage facility for Graybeard picked out but it fell through. However, it appears we found another facility about a mile from where we are now. We’re going down tomorrow after work to make sure everything is in order. We should have the necessary funds in hand by the end of the week for the remainder of the purchase price. And the list goes on. It seems she just gets one issue taken care of then another pops up. Slowly but surely she is working her way through things. It will definitely be worth it in the end.
So another day on The Road of Retirement has come to an end. Time to put on some warm PJ’s, grab an extra blanket and call it a night. It has gotten a bit chilly again which is not unusual for this area this time of year. It still beats shoveling snow and icy roads. None of that if you please.
Thanks again for joining us today. We always appreciate your company and look forward to your comments, questions and suggestions. Have a good night.
These are the voyages of Graybeard and it’s two intrepid travelers. Our continuing mission: to explore as many new states as possible, to seek out new acquaintances and make new friends, to boldly go where we have never been before
See you on down the road!
Looks like you have alot of work ahead of you, but working outside would be nice. Is this the same crew and how many people do you have? Good luck unclogging that pipe wherever it may be. 😬 God bless you all.
