Temperature 101 Degrees in Wickenburg/98 Degrees In Congress

Projects To Work On

Now We Know We Can Live Here – We Found An Excellent Chinese Take Out Restaurant

Making Plans to Leave As Soon As Possible

Another day, same as the last.  Sun rising in the east, clear blue sky and temperatures going through the roof again.  Oh yes, it is going to be another scorcher.

USPS brought me some new items this morning.

  • Additional LED Puck lights to install
  • RV Awning Anchor Kit
  • Two Small Temperature/Humidity Gauges – a lot smaller than I thought they would be!

First project required the use of my headband headlight.  I’ve had this lying around for some time and never really used it until recently.  I really appreciate the fact that I no longer have to hold a flashlight in one hand nor try to prop up a light in the work area.  Slip the light on my head, aim the light where I need it – fantastic!

Today’s first project was installing larger washers to hold the kitchen sink in place.  The original washer on the right in some places was just barely catching the lip of the sink.

I installed the larger washer on the left along with the washer on the right and now the sink is absolutely secure.

Next, we took time to go pick up Chinese take-out for our afternoon supper.  Barbara had done some research and found a highly recommended restaurant in Wickenburg.  The food did not disappoint.  Barbara had twice cooked pork and I had wanton soup and triple crown.  The vegetables were just right, the rice was perfectly seasoned and the main course was spot on.  We’ll go back again in the future.

Once we arrived back home I had a few more projects to complete.

While we were in town I picked up the Reflectex I needed for the windshield.  I cut two pieces and fitted each – left and right – on the outside between the sunshade and the windshield.  I’m counting on this to drastically reduce the amount of heat that has been coming in each morning through the windshield.

I had a total of four more halogen puck lights to replace today.  This is one of two that was over the couch on the passenger side.

Two new LED lights installed in the living room.  Our living room, kitchen and dining room now have all LED lights installed.

The other two halogen puck lights that were replaced with LED lights were in the window alcove in our bedroom.  Now, our bedroom also has all LED lights installed.

I ordered these little gizmo’s so that I could get an idea of the relative humidity in Elvira.  Suffice to say we are going to need a small humidifier.  Once each was in place for a few minutes I discovered that each was showing a relative humidity level below 30%

Now we know what summer is like in the southwest.  Only thing is, it isn’t even summer yet.  Yes, they say in a week or two it will cool back down.  At least for a short bit then the temperatures are going to soar again.  We would be fine if we had the use of our front A/C but it seems to have given up the ghost.  The back A/C unit is still working like a champ but it just can’t completely cool down Elvira.  Using a fan to pull the cool air from the back we’re comfortable as long we we don’t move around a lot.

Bottom line, it is time to get out of Dodge, or in this case North Ranch.  We’re making plans to leave on or about May 15th and head a bit further north and up a little bit more in elevation.  We’re hoping to end up in or around Kingman.  The temperatures in that area usually stay in the mid 80 degree range, not the high 90’s or low 100’s.  At least that is the plan right now.  Stay tuned and you’ll be the first to know if it works out.

That was our day on The Road of Retirement.  We’re still healthy, comfortable enough despite the heat, and still enjoying life to the fullest.  What more could one ask for?  Thank you Lord for all the blessings that are ours.

On the lighter side.

Thanks for coming along with us today.  We always appreciate your company, and your comments and suggestions.  Keep safe.  Wear your mask.  Wash your hands.  Catch you tomorrow.

These are the voyages of  Elvira and it’s two intrepid travelers.  Our continuing mission: to explore as many new states as possible, to seek out new acquaintances and make new friends, to boldly go where we have never been before.

See you on down the road!
