Temperature 104 Degrees
Spirits and Trains
I probably sound like a broken record, but it is a bit warm around these parts.
The bottom number is the temperature outside in the shade. The middle number is the temperature inside Elvira.
Moreover, we still haven’t hit the high for the week. Sometime this weekend we are supposed to reach 106 or better. Be that as it may we are quite comfortable inside Elvira. Yet, open the door and stick your head out and it’s like the life is sucked out of you.
Nevertheless, early this morning I was able to get up on the roof for the monthly inspection. I basically found most things in order, however, there is one mounting plate that is going to need a little extra caulk before we get to wetter climates. I’ll probably take care of this once we are in Texas and the temperatures get down to a more reasonable 90 something degrees during the day.
So what does one do when the temperature is this hot?
You hunker down inside and hold a Spirits and Train Party! What else. We poured ourselves a couple of glasses of wine and played a marathon round of Mexican Train.
Almost forget, no party would be complete without some munchies. Ah yes, there are still some chips left in the bag for tomorrow.
I wish I could say I absolutely dominated today but the truth is I got trounced. Last week I couldn’t loose a round. This week, today in particular, the dominoes refused to fall my way. What’s that line from the Gambler? You have to know when to hold them and you have to know when to fold them. Today was my day to fold.
That was the net of our day on The Road of Retirement. For all intents and purposes we are in hold mode. Living in this COVID-19 time period is a clear reminder once again that the situation is the boss. There’s no denying that although we can plan all we want for places we want to go and create lists of things we want to do, the future is only an illusion. When will it all end? I’m not too optimistic about it ending any time soon. Especially since so many people are in complete denial that there is even a pandemic and that it is getting more serious by the minute. As for the two of us we will continue to live in our bubble we call The Republic of Newmar and and take the necessary steps to keep healthy. We’ll also continue to remind ourselves of the fact that despite current circumstances we continue to be two of the most blessed and fortunate people in the world.
Thanks for stopping by today. We always enjoy your company and appreciate your comments. Be safe out there.
These are the voyages of Elvira and it’s two intrepid travelers. Our continuing mission: to explore as many new states as possible, to seek out new acquaintances and make new friends, to boldly go where we have never been before.
See you on down the road!
Stay cool, and have a good day tomorrow.

Stay inside!!! I’ll bet Barbara keeps pouring the wine into your glass while playing Dominoes, to give herself the edge. Go Girl!! 😉
