Today I Turned 70 – Again!

Yup, today I turned 70 – again.  You see I have this theory.  Barbara has decreed that when I turn 80 it will probably be time for me to stop driving a motorhome.  OK.  That being the case I don’t think I’ll ever turn 80.  I’ll just keep celebrating my 70th birthday year after year.  Works for me.

My sweetheart asked around regarding a great place in the area to go for a steak dinner.  This is the place several local residents recommended.

The franchise started in 1996 and today it has restaurants in Colorado, New Mexico, and Texas.

We didn’t know if we would be able to eat in or have to take it home.  Upon arriving we found the dining room open.  Open and with a number of safety precautions in place.  First, upon entering they take your temperature.  Second, between each booth is a fiberglass partition.  Third, tables are spaced a minimum of six feet apart.  Fourth, each booth or table is sanitized after a customer leaves.  Fifth, all the staff are wearing masks.  Finally, you don’t get a menu but rather a sheet of paper which is thrown away after one use.  Given all the precautions in place we didn’t hesitate to dine in.

The place was immaculate, warm and inviting.  However, not much on the walls to take pictures of.

The steak and shrimp were cooked to perfection as were both sides.  This time the locals really got it right.  This was a first class restaurant with excellent service and delicious food.  Add to it a nice cold beer to wash everything down and you’ll get no complaints from me.

That was our day on The Road of Retirement.  My sweetheart really treated me well today and I can’t thank her enough.  It was a grand day for a guy who is holding at 70!

We hope your day was as great as ours was.  Thanks for coming by.  We always enjoy your company and appreciate your comments.  Be safe out there.

These are the voyages of  Elvira and it’s two intrepid travelers.  Our continuing mission: to explore as many new states as possible, to seek out new acquaintances and make new friends, to boldly go where we have never been before.

See you on down the road!

  1. Happy Birthday! Sounds like a very nice day. Plus, the restaurant sounds great – good food and all the precautions in place. Best wishes for your coming 71st year! 😉
