Temperature 46 Degrees – No, That Is Not A Typo

Round Robin of Doctor Visits

With all due respect to those in the north who have some really frigd temperatures and lots of snow – it is cold here in Florida.  This morning the temperature started out at 59 degrees and fell like a rock throughout the day.  Tonight, as I write this blog we’re at 46 degrees and going even lower.  OK, we don’t have snow but this is ridiculous for Florida.

The first appointment of the morning was mine.  I had a 9:15 am appoinntment with Dr. Hamoui at Shoreline Urocare to discuss the results of my prostate biopsy.  I’ve been to this doctor in the past and have great respect for him.  He is a straight-shooter with a great bed-side manner.  This is his preliminary assessment:

there is cause for concern but it is not as bad as I thought

we could let things go until next December if necessary but he would not recommend it

totally removal of the prostate is not possible because of past procedures I have had

that leaves me with either external beam raidation or seed implants

Which way to go?  What to do?  This Friday I’ll meet with a recommended oncologist for a consult to further discuss my options.  This is definitely something I’m going to beat.  Moreover, I’m pushing hard to get this over and done with so we can be back on the road by the last week of March.

Moving on.  The next visit was at the VA Clinic in Brooksville for a hearing test and a fitting for new hearing aids.  The VA supplies new hearing aids every four years for Vet’s who qualify.  I received my first set four years ago so I’m due.

The hearing test revealed that my hearing lost is no worse.  So, that is good news.

I was then fitted for new hearing aids which I’ll receive the first week in March.

Moving on.  Time for Ms Barbara to receive her first vaccine shot.  She is now a card carrying member of the Vaccine Club.  Her second shot will be in March.  Now, if I can only get mine.

That was our day on The Road of Retirement.  We left the house at 8 am and finally returned home at a litte over 4 pm.  We’re exhausted and cold.  Tiny Tim is now going full force and our home is finally warm and comfortable.  Make note to self, the next time you leave on a cold day remember to leave the heat on!  As we set here tonight side by side we both agree, as we’ve said before we are two of the most blessed and fortunate people on the face of the planet.

Thanks for taking the time to read our blog.  We always appreciate your company, your comments, and your suggestions. Keep safe, keep healthy, live to the fullest the days that God gives you.

These are the voyages of  Elvira and her two intrepid travelers.  Our continuing mission: to explore as many new states as possible, to seek out new acquaintances and make new friends, to boldly go where we have never been before.

See you on down the road!

  1. The Florida weather has not been the best this year according to several friends that live there. By Pennsylvania’s weather, what you’re experiencing is good, but snowbirds expect warm sunshine upon arriving in Florida. We are still having snow and have about 11-12″. I love it. Shoveled today, just to be outside, then went for a walk. The maintenance crew here will clear our driveway but we did it anyway. Tomorrow we’ll wait for them because there was sleet which will make the snow heavier. Glad you are taking care of the prostate issue. Did Barbara have any issues with her first shot? Stay warm.

    1. Yes, compared to your weather and the weather my sister has north of you, it is much better here. But definitely not the weather you expect for Florida. Barbara has a sore arm but that is all. I’m still trying to get an appointment for my first. Have a great day.

  2. I am saying my prayers for you every day. I have know many who have survived cancer. My sister had brain cancer. She is cancer free today. I had stage 1 breast cancer, diagnosed November 2013. I am all good now. Our past neighbor had prostate cancer; he did get the “seeds.” That was 9 years ago. It is good yours was discovered, and now you can take care of it. I am so thankful for the doctors and health care providers who can heal us. And congrats to Miss Barbara! Hopefully, it will warm up soon in Florida. Enjoy your day today!

    1. Prayers definitely appreciated. Glad to hear you are all good now. The more I do research the more my head begins to swim with all the treatment options now available. Hopefully, Friday I’ll get a clearer picture of which way I’m going to go. Have a great day.
