Temperature Low 52 Degrees, High 84 Degrees

Double Header of Sightseeing

We haven’t fallen off the face of the planet. Nor have we stopped sightseeing. The fact of the matter is my PC was tied up last night transferring a huge file to my home church in NJ. They asked me to do the pastoral prayer for this Sunday so after I taped it I had to sent it over. Unfortunately, we we had hit out data cap for the month on all three of our devices so it took a year and a day – actually over four hours – to get the transfer done. But it’s done and that is all that counts.

Let’s get caught up

Saint Simons Island

This was our first stop on Tuesday. Following are some of the highlights.

A diorama of the original town. The fort is to the right. A wall and a moat enclosed the entire town.

One more thing to do while on the island.

Tram Tour

The camp is currently closed to the public since the crew tasked with cutting up the cargo ship Golden Ray are kept in quarantine here.

We had a wonderful day but one in which there just wasn’t enough time to do all that we wanted to. The bottom line is, we could have easily spent another week in this area. There was more to see and do on both Jekyll and St. Simons Island that we just never got to. Hopefully, we’ll be back another day.

We’re starting to pack up since we’ll be on the road tomorrow. However, there was one place we wanted to pay a visit to in Darien.

Beef Brisket for Ms. Barbara.

A Blackened Shrimp platter for myself. The food was good but not really worth the price. Oh yea, it was expensive and not really within our budget but we decided that since all the locals recommended it, what the hey. Suffice to say we will not be returning here again.

How fresh is the shrimp?

Two of the shrimp boats are docked immediately behind the restaurant and the rest of the fleet is just a short trip down the river.

So that is what we have been up to on The Road of Retirement. We have had a fantastic time in this area and we’re glad we stopped here. The RV park was first class and comfortable. The sightseeing has been awesome. All that we’ve discovered just reminds me that the more I learn the more I want to know. Time now to pack up and make ready for the road.

Thanks for taking the time to read our blog.  We always appreciate your company, your comments, and your suggestions. Keep safe, keep healthy, live to the fullest the days that God gives you.

  1. Sounds like a great day, and the weather looks nearly perfect. Thanks for the tips for visiting the area – the RV park, the idea of taking tram tours, and what restaurant not to eat it. I look forward to reading about where you are going next. Safe travels!
