Yo Yo Weather

One Appointment Scheduled

I Found Her!

Other Odds and Ends

This has been the oddest weather we have ever had while in Florida.  For several days we were in the 80’s during the day and the 60’s at night.  Now we’re in the 60’s during the day and the 30’s at night.  But wait, this weekend we’ll probably get up around 90 during the day only to plunge down to the 50’s on Monday and Tuesday.  I call it yo-yo weather.

Our big news is Ms Barbara was able to schedule an appointment for her vaccine shot.  Unfortunately, I was not able to get one.  However, I am now registered at four different sites so I’m confident that sooner of later I’ll hit the jackpot.  I have my fingers crossed.

Oh, what a wonderful clear blue sky today.  It was an absolutely beautiful day in Paradise.  A perfect day for a bike ride.

IMG_3617

Look who I found today.  She’s been moved to a new site and is now dressed in Tennessee Volunter Football garb.

IMG_3600

This is what she looked like a few days ago.  I’m trying to come up with a name for her but nothing comes to mind.  Any ideas?

IMG_3611

Around the corner from our lady friend I came upon these lawn decorations.

IMG_3612

Oh yes, a turtle.  I just had to take a picture.

IMG_3613

Then there was this cute little puppy.

IMG_3615

This one is even better.  I get such a kick out of seeing the talent that some people have.  When I see something like this I think of my friend Betty and all of the beautiful things she has created and shared on her blog.  She is one talented lady.

IMG_3618

Do you notice anything unusual on the side of this rig?  How about the large clock?  Ms Barbara said Gee that would be nice.  Oh no, I nipped that one in the bud.

IMG_3616.JPG

This is called one man’s work in progress.  He has Diamond Shield on the front of his rig even as I do.  For the past month he has been working to take it off.  I asked him when he thought he would be finished and he just shrugged his shoulders and said he wasn’t in any hurry.  I believe I’ll have someone take mine off.

Well, that was our day on The Road of Retirement.  We did get out and about since we had a few items we needed to purchase.  We played some Mexican Train which we’ll continue tonight.  Other than that we’re just taking each day as it comes and making the most of it.  We hope you are too.

Thanks for taking the time to read our blog.  We always appreciate your company, your comments, and your suggestions. Keep safe, keep healthy, live to the fullest the days that God gives you.

Visit With Family

And the rains came down and the floods went up. . .  The part about the rains is right but thankfully we didn’t have floods.  Just sheets of water running over and off the patio outside our front door.  The good thing is it waited until tonight to start.  Which left us with another absolutely beautiful day for visiting.

IMG_3610

Ms Barbara arranged a visit with her brother today.  This is where they are staying while he is undergoing cancer treatment at Moffit Cancer Center.

The driveway in.  The complex is huge and it is absolutely picture perfect.

Ms Barbara on her way in with lunch in hand.  The consensusof the group was that lunch today would be from Chick-fil-A.

Our poolside retreat site looking in from the entrance gate.  This is our go-to-place whenever the four of us get together.

Harry and his wife, Janet.  Harry started on a new and more aggressive round of chemo and it has really knocked him for a loop.  He was really looking tired and fatigued.  Our prayers continue to be with both of them.  This is an extremlly difficult time in their lives.

That was our day on The Road of Retirement.  We had a wonderful time visiting today with Haryy and Janet, and are looking forward to when we can spend more time with them in the future.  As of now we’re just sitting back and enjoying the evening together.  In fact, I believe I’ll go make a bag of popcorn and just put my feet up.  Enjoy your evening.

Around The Park

I finally did it.  I’ve talked about it for days, weeks really.  But today was the day.  No more excuses.  I got back on my bike and went riding.  Why hadn’t I ridden in so long?  No, I hadn’t fallen in the past.  I was just lazy.  That ended today.  And boy oh boy did it feel great.  Now I need to keep it up.

IMG_3600

No more flamingos being moved around.  Now we have this lovely lady who is apt to show up almost anywhere in the park.  Not only do they move her aroound the park they also dress her in a different outfit each time they move her.  It’s going to be fun finding where they move her to.

IMG_3597

Did this ever bring back pleasant memories.  I had a Goldwing of the same color.  It wasn’t triked and it finally got too much for me to handle.  My knees gave out and I could no longer count on holding it up when stopped.  Oh, but the miles of smiles that it gave me over the many years I owned it.

IMG_3596

To me it is sort of funny what turns up in the premium and most expensive sites.  This is only twelve feet long and the kitchen is in the back.  The whole back of the trailer opens up to reveal it.  Um, I wonder who gets the privilege of cooking breakfast on a thirty degree morning?  The though of having to put a parka on just to make a pot of coffee doesn’t appeal to me.

For pet lovers everywhere.

IMG_3598

A really nice 1962 Corvette brought down in a trailer from Maine.  The gentleman who owns it stated his health doesn’t allow him to take out too often.  I was going to volunteer to take it for a spin but I didn’t believe he wouled bite.  I mean I would let him ride shotgun!

IMG_3602

Two windshield wipers and two windshield washers make up the setup on our rig.  Well, the fittings for the windshield washers broke off so I decided to fix them.  I mean, how hard could that be?  It’s only two bolts and a simple plate to change.  Or so I though.  Well, one will never be able to say that Newmar engineers had any brains when they designed systems for their rigs.  To fix the windshield washers requries that one take the whole windshield wiper assembley – both sides – completely off.  Forget it.  I’m now designing my own windshield washer system.  I have it just about figured out.

Ms Barbara had one doctor’s appointment today.  Then she spent the rest of the day trying to get the results of my prostate biopsy.  Good luck.  The VA shows no concern for those entrusted to their care.  She finally found someone willing to email the results to her.  Well, reading it I don’t know whether to panic or just shrug my shoulders and go about life as usual.  The next step is finding a doctor to read it and tell me what’s what.  That means going outside the VA because waiting for them to call, well, I could be gone and buried by the time a doctor will call.  Trust me, I’m speaking from experience.  I mean it took them over three months just to read an Xray I had taken once.

That was our day on The Road of Retirement.  It was another beautiful day in Paradise.  We’re just taking the days as they come and enjoying them to the max.  We’ve hit a few small bumps in the road but nothing to get worked up about.  What will be, will be.  We know that God has a perfect plan for our lives and we’ll just let it unfold in His good time.

Thanks for stopping by today.  We always appreciate your company, your comments, and your suggestions. Keep safe, keep healthy, live to the fullest the days that God gives you.

Monthly Maintenance Plus

Oh what a beautiful day the good Lord gave us.  The temperature was in the 80’s, there was a gentle breeze blowing and the sky was a beautiful blue.  It was just perfect in every way.

So where are we?

IMG_3574

Yesterday, we worshipped with our home congregation in Colts Neck, NJ.

As for today.

Time to do monthly maintenance plus a little bit more.

IMG_3595

The back slides on occassion were giving me fits.  I would press the swtich and nothing.  I would press it again and then they would work.  Well, I figured I would install new switches as a first step.  If, after this the slides continue to give me trouble I’ll do some further trouble-shooting.

IMG_3590

After installing the new coach batteries I wanted an easy way to monitor the water level in the cells as well as a convenient way to fill them when necessary.  Today, I installed an automatice water fill system.  The black caps you see above have floats in them and when the cells are full you’ll see a small white dot in the fill cap.  If and when the cells need water you hook up a hand pump to a bottle of distilled water and you can now fill all four batteries at one time without an issue.

IMG_3588

I also reinstalled the drop hitch today.

Then I went through my monthly maintenance list.

IMG_3587

I started by changing out our one water filter and then regenerated our water softener.

I then treated all the slide seals to 303 Aerospace Protectant.  It helps to protect and prevent cracking of the rubber seals.

Using dry slide lube I next lubricated all the slide tracks.

backwashed our washer/dryer per the manufactures instructions.  This helps to flush the lint out of the drain duct.

I cleaned our shower drain.

I checked under all our sinks for leaks, we’re good.

Last, but not least I cycled the jacks and the slides

I believe that if you take care of your rig, it will take care of you.

While I was doing all of this Ms Barbara was inside making a wonderful midday meal for the two of us.  In addition, she was on the phone trying to obtain the results of my biopsy (unsuccessful) and scheduling more doctor appointments for the two of us.

That was our day on The Road of Retirement.  It was a wonderful day from start to finish.  Hopefully, there are many more like today on the way.  Oh, how blessed and fortunate we are to be living such a full life in every way.
