Happy 4th of July
I think we can all agree this is not a normal 4th of July. We have the COVID-19 pandemic raging across our land yet there are those who want us to believe it is all a hoax. When many Americans are wrestling with the racist misdeeds of the country’s heroes there are those who would want us to believe that those crying out for change and justice are nothing more than a left wing mob intent upon destroying the fabric of our country. Our country is divided and in chaos.
Yet, given all that I still firmly believe it is a great time to be an American. We may be off course but we have the power of the vote to right the ship. We have the freedom to choose who we want to lead us. Yes, despite all that is going on which seeks to tear us apart and pit one against the other, I am still proud to be an American.
I believe Lee Greenwood said it best in song
“Proud To Be An American”
And I had to start again with just my children and my wife
I’d thank my lucky stars to be living here today
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom and they can’t take that awayAnd I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free
And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me
And I’d gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land! God bless the U.S.A.
From the lakes of Minnesota, to the hills of Tennessee
Across the plains of Texas, from sea to shining sea
From Detroit down to Houston and New York to LA
Well, there’s pride in every American heart
And it’s time we stand and say:
I’m proud to be an American where at least I know I’m free
And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me
And I’d gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land! God bless the U.S.A.

There was also a food truck on site. Well, sort of. They only offered three items, one of them being hot dogs. Hot dogs, are you kidding me this was supposed to be a Mexican food truck. Doesn’t it say New Mexico’s Favorite? Oh well, we went back home and had our own left overs.
That’s about it for our day on The Road of Retirement. I did a few simple chores today – cleaned our washer/dryer, cleaned out the dryer vent, and flushed out the fresh water tank. Oh, almost forget as the washer was going through the spin cycle we heard a funny rattle from the front of Elvira. Guess what I found? Our front TV was dancing up a storm! The screws holding our front TV to the mount had backed out. I can only imagine what might have happened the next time we were on the road. Glad I found the issue and corrected it now.
Hope you had a great holiday today. Maybe you had a chance to spend some time with family or a few friends. We’re glad you decided to spend a few minutes with us. We always appreciate your company and your comments. Catch you tomorrow.
These are the voyages of Elvira and it’s two intrepid travelers. Our continuing mission: to explore as many new states as possible, to seek out new acquaintances and make new friends, to boldly go where we have never been before.
See you on down the road!
Nice fireworks! Glad you fixed the tv issue before it was a costly accident! I pray for our country every day. We need it. Have a good day today!

Glad you found the TV issue and got it fixed. That could have caused a terrible accident. The fireworks looks amazing.
