Where has the time gone. Though it has been just a few days short of three months that we have been here it seems like only yesterday that we rolled in. We haven’t been sightseeing but we’ve had plenty to do.
For instance, yesterday we spent the majority of the day at the doctors. Ms Barbara had an out patient proceedure which lasted the better part of three hours. She received a clean bill of health so another medical box has been checked off.
Before we left she also put up a crock pot full of gumbo and left it to cook while we were gone. Oh my, when we got home what a wonderful aroma greeted me when we walked in the door. It didn’t take me long before I was helping myself to a heaping bowl full for supper. Oh, was it ever good. The bonus is, there is enough left for several meals on into next week. No complaints from me.
Today was a very special day in that we were able to spend time with Ms Barbara’s brother Harry and his wife Janet. Though they have a winter home in Fort Myers, as of now they are staying in Tampa right around the corner from H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute. This is where Harry is going for his chemotherapy treatments.
We all agreed that lunch from Mission BBQ was the choice for our
picnic at the pool.
The walkway leading back to the pool.
The pool and some of the surrounding area.
It was a fantastic time with family that we will remember forever. We are truly blessed to be able to spend time like this with Harry and Janet. Hopefully, there will be other days like this in the coming weeks and months.
When we returned home we discovered that two of our neighbors had been falmingoed. Someone, yet unknown, moves them around from site to site during the late night hours. They’ve ended up in all areas of the park including the dog park one day. In the second instance, the tags say, We can’t talk, we’re nesting, leaving June 1st. It sure beats having toilet paper thrown over your rig!
That’s what we’ve been up to the last couple of days on The Road of Retirement. The weather so far has been great. However, a big change is coming as of Friday.
The temperatures overnight are supposed to drop into the mid 20’s. With that in mind we decided to go and buy one more small electric heater. I’ll probably run it off an extension cord plugged into the 120 outlet on the power pedestal outside. I believe we are ready. We have three electric heaters and of course our furnace. If it gets really bad we’ll just stay under the covers all day!
Thanks for stopping by today. We always appreciate your company, your comments, and your suggestions. Keep safe, keep healthy, live to the fullest the days that God gives you.
These are the voyages of Elvira and her two intrepid travelers. Our continuing mission: to explore as many new states as possible, to seek out new acquaintances and make new friends, to boldly go where we have never been before.
See you on down the road!
Glad you had a nice visit with Barbara’s brother and wife – and glad Barbara got a clean bill of health! Enjoy your day tomorrow, and stay warm!
