November 25th, Sunday – Worship In The Morning; A New Faucet in the Kitchen; Football and Hallmark Sunday

This morning was one of the last warm ones for a while.  According to the weather report beginning Monday night-time temperatures are going to be in the low 40’s possibly dipping into the 30’s.  Just to be sure I am in Florida correct?  The good thing is after Thursday temperatures are supposed to go back up to a more normal nighttime temperature of 60 degrees.  Time for the extra blanket tomorrow.

Our Sunday morning began with worship at the First Presbyterian Church of Inverness.  The music as always was just great.  Unfortunately, Pastor Ron threw his back out yesterday and was not present this morning.  Service, therefore, was short and sweet.  No complaints here.  I do look forward to next week when hopefully he’ll be back with another great and meaningful message.

When we got back home it was time for another upgrade to GraybeardBarbara has been wanting a new pull down kitchen faucet for some time now.  Today was the day

her wish would come true.  Funny, I was once told because of the way the old faucet was installed, the way the sink was installed, this could not be done.  Guess what?  Not true!  The new faucet is in and the lady of the house is more than happy.  And as they say if the lady of the house is happy all is well in full-time RV land!

On to the next issue.  A couple of times after the refrigerator goes through its normal defrost cycle we’ve been finding water on the very bottom shelf.  So what gives?  I did some detective work and what I found was interesting.  There is a drip tray that is

supposed to funnel water out of the refrigerator to an outside drip pan where it then evaporates.  Only problem, the water in the drip tray was a solid chunk of ice.  OK.  I broke all the ice out so that the water can now drain.  I have also resolved to check on it periodically so it can’t create a problem again.

It was now time for football and Hallmark, one up front, the other in the back.  Only one problem.  For a couple of days now we’ve been having issues with the second receiver and back TV.  Today I finally figured out what was going on.  Bottom line you need to be

in sync with the first receiver and the main TV.  Once that is on, once you have a channel selected, the antenna locks onto the satellite that has your channel.  Now, you can use the second receiver and second TV but only for programs that are on the same satellite that the main receiver and TV have locked onto.  Got that?  Thankfully, the football games and Hallmark are on the same satellite so we have no issues watching both at the same time on each TV.

That was our day on The Road of Retirement.  Upgrades complete.  Puzzling issues resolved.  All in all a very good day.  Thanks once again for joining us as we journeyed  along, side by side, hand in hand, singing our song.  We hope your day was as enjoyable as ours was.  Before I go for the evening, a though once again for all of us to think upon:

As always,  if you are coming to the end of your day with concerns and worries, let me suggest that you turn them over to God.  After all, He is going to be up all night so why not let him handle them for you.

Time now for our evening prayers and eventually some shut-eye.  Till tomorrow.

November 24th, Saturday – Mexican Train; Odds and Ends; Hallmark of Course

Another wonderful morning overall.  I mean, reasonable temperatures, no need to rush off to do yard work, and a day ahead to do whatever one’s heart desires.  It doesn’t get much better than that.  Ah, the joy of retirement and life on the road.

Simple breakfast of French Toast, juice, and a couple of mugs of coffee.  Yummy and tummy filling.  Barbara sure can whip up the best in terms of breakfast.  Still for all that somehow I manage to keep my weight below 200 lbs.  You got to love it!

I puttered around this morning doing odds and ends both inside and out.  Nothing earth-shaking but things that needed doing.  Seems there is always a chore or two that must get done.  In this respect living in an RV is not much different from living in a sticks and brick home.

Come the afternoon we sat down and became playing Mexican Train.  It’s been sometime since we took the lid off the box and dumped the dominoes out.  Today was the day.  What a delightful way to spend an afternoon.  Time just flew by and before you knew it evening was upon us.  Who won?  Well, sort of evenly divided.

Now with evening here it is time for Hallmark once again.  Is it just me or do all the shows end in the same basic way?  Boy and girl have a misunderstand and go their separate ways.  Boy and girl get back together and work out their differences.  Boy and girl fall in love and live happily ever after!  You just have to love it.

That was our day on The Road of Retirement.  Just a normal day in the neighborhood.  Thanks once again for joining us.  We always enjoy your company as we travel thru our day.  Time now for me to take my bi-weekly shower and shave before church tomorrow.  What is it they say Cleanliness is next to Godliness!  Before I go, though, let me share with you a thought to ponder upon:

November 23rd, Friday – Still Kicking Back and Taking It Easy; Marti Gets A Haircut

Nice morning today.  The temperature never went below the mid 60’s last night so we awoke to a comfortable morning.  I know colder days are on the way so I’ll enjoy these mild days while I can.  I can only imagine what some of you are going through with the frigid temperatures in so many other parts of the country.

Breakfast this morning was one of my favorites, cheese potatoes.  Barbara whips up a big batch of mashed potatoes, adds a generous helping of grated cheese and then fries the whole concoction up on the griddle.  Yummy.  Also very tummy filling.  I added a glass of

juice and a McCafe Frappe Mocha Coffee Drink and breakfast was a sure winner.

It was time now to get on the road.  Marti was going for a haircut which is always an adventure in and of itself.  We never know how he is going to react.  This time, however, the Veterinarian gave us something to calm him down big time.  Well, it must have worked because the groomer stated that he gave her no problem.  This is what we are also going to give him each time we get ready to move.  Amanda was ready to take him but neither of us could give him up.  In addition we both believe he would be double trouble with the other five dogs Amanda already has.   Bottom line, Marti is here for the duration.  Hopefully the new meds will do the trick.

Back home it was just too nice outside to stay indoors.  So I set up my office outside on the patio and went to work again on Tour America 2019.  I’ll be working on it I know even as we are leaving here.  I keep finding new places we want to go, new sites we want to see, and I haven’t even made a list of the national parks and historical sites yet.  It is a work that is in a constant state of flux.

That was our day on The Road of Retirement.  Once again we traveled it together, side by side, hand in hand, singing our song.  It was a great day for both of us, one which we totally enjoyed.  Thanks again for joining us and before I go a thought for each of us to ponder upon:

November 22nd, Thursday – Happy Thanksgiving!

Yup, I’m a day behind.  Don’t know what happened yesterday other than too much food and too much TV.  I fell asleep in my recliner and that was that.  When I awoke I just ambled off to bed and went fast asleep again.

Our Thanksgiving Day was great in all ways.  We began by doing something we haven’t done in oh so many years.  We watched the Thanksgiving Day Parade from start to finish.

Wow, the floats, the balloons, the bands, the performers, it was all great.  With surround sound now working in the rig it was even better.

After the parade it was the beginning of back to back football games.  I was in the living room with the big TV.  Barbara made herself comfortable in the bedroom and watched Hallmark throughout the day.  I believe I’ve had enough football to last me for several days now.  Next time, though, it’s my turn to watch the TV in the bedroom.

Barbara installed Skype on her computer and we were then able to join my sister and her husband, my mom, my son Adam and his wife and the grandchildren for Thanksgiving.

Amazing what the marvels of modern technology allow one to do.  It was really great seeing them all on Thanksgiving Day.  In a way it was how shall I say even better in one respect doing it this way rather than actually being there in person.  The temperature in Wellsboro, PA was frigid while the temperature here was in the mid 60’s.  Sorry, I don’t do cold all that well anymore.

Late afternoon we went to Cracker Barrel for our Thanksgiving meal.  We had called earlier in the week and were told that after 3pm would be the best time to come.  So we waited until 4pm in the afternoon, pulled up the app on our phone, put our name on the wait list, and off we went.  When we got there I though Oh My this is going to take us forever since there were cars parked blocks away.  Oh silly me I should not have worried.  We were already on the list and so within 15 minutes we were seated.  We each ordered the Thanksgiving Day Special and within 10 minutes it was on the table in front

of us.  We had rolls, ham, turkey, stuffing, yams, green beans, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie for dessert.  It was positively yummy.  Yes, we both finished it all and left nothing behind.  The best part was we didn’t have to clean up afterwards!

That was our Thanksgiving Day on The Road of Retirement.  We truly are so blessed this Thanksgiving season as I noted in yesterday’s blog.  I wake up each morning with an attitude of gratitude for our cup which is just overflowing with blessings small and large.  How about you?  Take some time if you haven’t already and count your many blessings and I’m sure you will be amazed at how much you have to be thankful for.

Time to go now.  But before I do let me leave you with this thought to ponder upon:
